#GI8 CAMP UPDATE:
The GI8 Camp initiative has run successfully since 2015 and has offered the chance for girls from across New Zealand to share three amazing days together learning about Technology, Computer Science, having maker experiences and sharing time with other girls that share their interests and passions.
It is with great sadness that we announce that the 2019 camp is NOT GOING AHEAD as planned on Wednesday 16th January - Friday 18th January. Thanks to all of you who had registered and were looking forward to the expereince, we were looking forward to hosting you.
We will be sure to keep promoting further ‘Girls & Tech’ opportunities through our social media channels and the #GI8 webpage.



#GI8 CAMP DETAILS.
The 2019 Camp is being held on campus from Wednesday 16th January - Friday 18th January.
The camp is a residential program, but there are some day spots available. One camp evening offers an exciting opportunity to meet and talk with inspirational women who have built a career in Technology.The camps vision is consistent with the St Cuthbert’s wish to nurture and grow girls in exciting fields, to help them find themselves and develop as strong and caring future leaders.


Who can register?
* Any girl from any school across NZ that is going to be in Y9-13 in 2019.
* Day and residential attendance options (cost and experiences vary)
* There is no requirements to be studying technology, just a desire to explore new ideas, be enthusiastic and willing to challenge themselves and the ideas and stereotypes.

​To be eligible you must be attending a Decile 1-4 school in 2019 and be studying Technology this year (2018). 
​This does require a representative from your current school to complete a section in support of your application.

Applications for our Sponsored place are now open.
We are pleased to be able to offer FOUR spaces thanks to our GI8 Patrons -
James & Monroe and the Governement Communications Security Bureau.

We are definitely mixing up the experiences so if you have been before it will be different but still equally cool, fun and challenging.

We WILL offer more opportunities for girls to get together and get their geek on.  
Program is planned to include experiences like

  • Computer science unplugged & Code breaking
  • IOS Sphero charriot challenge
  • Evening offsite group activity, challenges and eating out (Residential attendees only)
  • Maker Day – student centred, self designed activity (examples below)
    • Making with Illustrator
    • Laser cutter project eg. jewellery
    • Laser cutter projects eg. Lighting solution design - multimaterials
    •  eTextiles​
  • Evening activity - Woman in IT Talks, Activity and pizza  (Residential attendees only) ​

#LittleGirlsInnov8 Techcamp 
We are hoping to offer this again in 2020.

MissBit (Y1-4)  and TechTweens (Y5-8)
​
This program will be designed to cater for St Cuthbert's College  Y1-8 girls.
2 days of exploring technology with other young and interested girls looking at robotics, coding, gaming and electronics. 
It is non-residential so will run within school h
ours 9am-3.30pm.
Participants will need to bring their own morning tea and lunch.
TechTweens will need their own iPads/notebooks to complete the coding projects.
